Written by: SciPocket ·Last updated: · Sync-pair data snapshot: 2026-11-01

Do trainers with many sync pairs also receive Pokémon with high popularity, game availability, and rarity? Compare a ranking that simply counts sync pairs with one that considers the value of their partner Pokémon.

Search all 657 included pairs by trainer, Pokémon, or outfit name. Select a trainer to see each pair’s Pokémon value and its contribution to the overall score.

Sync-pair count ranking

Count independently implemented sync pairs. Blue and Marnie tie for first with 10 pairs each. Each outfit counts as a pair, while EX unlocks and performance upgrades do not count as new implementations.

Favor weighted by Pokémon value

Sort partners by Pokémon value. Add the first value in full, divide the second by 1.5 and the third by 2, and continue. Both the number of appearances and the partner Pokémon affect the ranking.

N, Cynthia, and Hilda lead the favor ranking. Ethan with six pairs and Diantha with five also rank highly, while Blue with 10 pairs is 20th and Marnie is 22nd. Separating pair count from partner value makes these differences visible.

Tiers use fixed scores rather than rank percentiles. The thresholds were chosen so populations increase from S to E in this dataset; future implementations and data updates may change that pattern. Classification uses scores before display rounding.

Compare pair count and mean Pokémon value

The horizontal axis shows mean Pokémon value and the vertical axis shows sync-pair count. Trainers farther right have higher-rated partners on average; trainers higher up have more pairs. The plot follows search, region, and tier filters. Select a point to open its trainer breakdown.

How the favor score is calculated

First, rate each pair’s partner Pokémon out of 100, then sort each trainer’s partners by that value, rather than sync-pair implementation order. Independent implementations with the same Pokémon species each contribute separately.

Pokémon value = popularity (up to 40) + game availability (up to 20) + rarity (up to 40)
Trainer favor = V₁ + V₂÷1.5 + V₃÷2 + V₄÷2.5 + …

The ninth pair contributes 20% of its value and the tenth contributes about 18.2%. More implementations add points, while the highest-value partners have greater weight. The trainer total is not capped at 100.

Popularity: up to 40 points

Official 2020 poll vote totals are compressed logarithmically. Greninja received the most votes, at 140,559. We use published official totals for the top 30 in each regional category, covering 240 species.

40 × log (1 +votes) / log (1 +140559)

Game availability: up to 20 points

Check whether a species is formally usable in Sword/Shield, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Scarlet/Violet, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. DLC and Pokémon HOME transfers count; titles before the species’ debut are excluded from the eligibility denominator.

20 × (0.7 × appeared titles ÷ eligible titles + 0.3 × appeared titles ÷ 4)

Rarity: up to 40 points

Mythical Pokémon score 40, restricted legendaries 35, sublegendaries and Ultra Beasts 25, Paradox Pokémon 10, and ordinary Pokémon 0. Categories are not added together; Koraidon and Miraidon receive 35.

A species introduced in Scarlet/Violet that is usable in both Scarlet/Violet and Z-A receives 17 points. Species introduced in Sword/Shield DLC are eligible for Sword/Shield; species added in Legends: Arceus are eligible for that title. Different evolution stages remain separate species.

Regional forms share popularity and availability with their National Pokédex species. A species counts as present if any of its forms is usable; this does not measure the popularity or availability of a particular form. Mega Evolution, Gigantamax, and Terastallization do not add species or appearances.

Scope and interpreting the rankings

Pair count measures implementation frequency, mean Pokémon value rates the partners, and favor combines the two with diminishing returns. Battle performance, sales, story treatment, and developer intentions are not scored.
