Electric / Ground Score Attack: Gimmick Counters and Durable Supports
Start with each battle’s special rule and a support that can survive while raising team stats. We ran the buddy-search app’s own search logic locally to select Electric- and Ground-type candidates.
The pool contains 73 pairs whose initial type is Electric or Ground, out of 674 pairs. The event rewards quick clears, dealing high damage, and raising many stats. These are role-based candidates, without damage calculations or a firepower ranking. Open each pair or search link to check your move levels and sync grids.
Sort the five battles by attack category and role
The rules below follow the supplied game screen and rule descriptions. A large reduction is distinct from immunity. We do not infer unprovided enemy moves, resistances, or an event end date.
| Opponent | Special rule | Selection approach |
|---|---|---|
| Marnie | Allied physical attack damage is greatly reduced | Use special offense with support that provides special buffs and healing. |
| Clemont | The opponent’s maximum sync countdown is reduced by 3 | Prepare for earlier enemy syncs with mitigation, healing, and allied countdown reduction. Check resistance before relying on interference. |
| Clay | Allied special attack damage is greatly reduced | Use physical offense with Attack, Defense, and Speed support. |
| Maxie | Five stats of pairs whose base role is Strike are greatly reduced | Check the base role. Pairs with Strike only as their EX role are exempt from the weakening. |
| Giovanni | No additional special rule | Reserve the counters needed elsewhere, then assign remaining offense and durable support. |
Secure durable supports first
We considered HP, Defense, and Sp. Def together with team defensive buffs, healing, and mitigation. The first five are a useful pool to distribute across the five battles; Chase and Tabitha are alternatives. Stats use the app’s initial form at Lv. 200, original potential, and no power-ups; they exclude grids, stat ranks, mitigation, and healing.
| Support | HP / Def / Sp. Def | Why select them |
|---|---|---|
| 880 / 410 / 424 | Each successful attack raises the entire team’s Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, and Sp. Def by 2. Team healing, gradual healing, and team mitigation that also covers sync moves make him a strong combined tank and stat buffer. | |
| 959 / 411 / 408 | His Trainer move raises the entire team’s Defense and Sp. Def by 4 and grants himself Enduring. Potion adds recovery. His roles fit the Maxie rule, and Ground Zone supports Ground attackers. | |
| 876 / 398 / 413 | Heals the team when hit. X Sp. Def All and her Trainer move raise team Sp. Def, Attack, and Sp. Atk. She can also provide Ground Zone for a Ground-focused assignment. | |
| 871 / 398 / 398 | Successful attacks raise team Defense and Sp. Def by 1. Team Speed +3, up to Sp. Atk +6, and critical-hit rate +3 complement conditional team healing and mitigation. Supports special offense against Marnie and is exempt from Maxie’s weakening because his base role is Support. | |
| 869 / 375 / 356 | Her Trainer move raises team Attack and Defense by 2; being hit raises team Speed by 1. Potion and Defense drops on attack help physical offense against Clay. Add another source of Sp. Def support if needed. | |
| 878 / 403 / 408 | Each Trainer move raises team Speed and evasiveness by 1 and his own Defense and Sp. Def by 1. Team healing when hit and allied countdown reduction make him a useful alternative for special offense. | |
| 867 / 394 / 396 | His Trainer move provides team Defense and Sp. Def +2 and gradual healing. Team healing when hit, enemy Attack and Sp. Atk drops, and Hoenn Circle (Defensive) add another Ground-type tank option. |
For Lots of Stat Increases, spread several stats across the team
Ethan (Champion) can raise four team stats—Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, and Sp. Def—by 2 after every successful attack. Blue (Champion) raises both defenses while attacking; Sonia covers Attack, Defense, and Speed when hit; Chase adds Speed and evasiveness with each Trainer move.
Avoid too much overlap in the stats your supports raise, and cover stats your attacker cannot raise alone. Once the needed buffs are in place, switch to offense for the time-based rule. Do not assume reapplying a capped stat earns points; check the game’s rule details for scoring and limits.
Evaluate terrain, zones, circles, move boosts, and healing separately from stat-rank increases. Sygna Suit Iono’s random stat increase when allies create weather, terrain, or zones is useful, but does not replace a guaranteed buff to a particular stat.
Search results for each battle
Some candidates appear under more than one battle. Assign pairs to the stricter rules first so you can avoid reusing them across the five battles. The lists below provide candidates for each role rather than complete three-pair teams.
VS Marnie: choose special area attacks
Florian&Miraidon (Ultimate Mode)Uses special Electro Drift and an area buddy move. Electric Terrain unlocks the buddy move, which has limited MP, so establish terrain first.
N&Landorus (Incarnate Forme)Has special area attacks through Sandsear Storm and its buddy move. The buddy move requires raised Sp. Atk and also lowers enemy Attack and sets Physical Damage Reduction.
Red (1996)&PikachuHis passive expands special buddy moves to all opponents. He is especially valuable as a non-Strike area sync user against Maxie, so decide that assignment first.
Support options: Blue (Champion) combines special buffs, both defensive buffs, and healing. Rika or Tabitha can provide a Ground-type tank instead.
VS Clemont: prepare for earlier enemy syncs
Sygna Suit Iono&Raging BoltHer buddy move inflicts flinching when it lands and sets EX Electric Terrain on its first successful attack. Raised Sp. Atk unlocks it. It starts with 3 MP and can regain MP via Booster Energy and other conditions, but enemy resistance or immunity can prevent interference.
Elesa (Classic)&EmolgaNuzzle inflicts paralysis, and attacks against a paralyzed target lower Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed by 1. Light Screen and offensive debuffs help the team survive.
Support option: Ethan (Champion), prioritizing mitigation that includes sync damage and team healing. Allied countdown reduction speeds up your own team; it does not restore the opponent’s maximum countdown. Paralysis and Speed drops alone do not guarantee the enemy cannot sync.
VS Clay: combine physical offense with Attack buffs
Arc Suit Hau&Raichu (Alola Form)Has a physical area buddy move for Electric offense. His countdown reduction after an allied sync consumes Electric Terrain MP, so check the remaining uses.
Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt)&PikachuHis main area buddy move is physical and unlocks in Electric Terrain. Despite being Tech, his physical offense makes Clay a more suitable assignment than Marnie.
Arc Suit Cynthia & GarchompA Ground physical offense option. Her base role is Multi, so she is also exempt from Maxie’s weakening. After reaching 6★ EX and unlocking EX Strike, her area sync move is another option for that battle.
Support option: Sonia raises Attack and Defense together and distributes Speed when hit. Tabitha or Maxie (Fall 2026) can provide a Ground-type tank instead.
VS Maxie: avoid pairs whose base role is Strike
The weakening affects pairs whose base role is Strike. Pairs with Strike only as their EX role are not weakened. Arc Suit Hau and Arc Suit Cynthia have Multi as their base role, so they remain exempt even with EX Strike unlocked. Blue (Champion) and Iono & Bellibolt have Support as their base role and can also fill the durable-support slot.
Red (1996)&PikachuTech / EX Support. His passive expands buddy moves and sync moves to all opponents, directly matching the requested role. His area sync comes from the passive, not EX Strike.
Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt)&PikachuTech / EX Field. His area buddy move works in Electric Terrain. This is an area buddy-move option; do not assume his sync move also hits all opponents.
N&Landorus (Incarnate Forme)Field / EX Support. His special area buddy move lowers Attack and sets Physical Damage Reduction. A Ground-type area option whose roles avoid the rule.
Support option: Maxie (Fall 2026), who is Support / EX Field and provides team Defense and Sp. Def +4 plus Potion. Blue (Champion), Chase, and Tabitha are alternatives whose base role is Support.
The area-sync search needs care. The app’s target filter uses a move’s base target, so it misses Red (1996)’s passive-based expansion when filtering sync moves for all opponents. Check roles and effect text even after finding an area buddy move.
VS Giovanni: balance the remaining options
Both physical and special offense are options because there is no additional special rule. Reserve special offense for Marnie, physical offense for Clay, and exempt roles for Maxie first, then match the remaining attacker with field effects, buffs, and healing. Saving Rika here offers team healing and both Attack and Sp. Atk buffs.
When assignments overlap, reserve scarce tools such as Red (1996) for Maxie and interference or mitigation for Clemont. If the first five supports are already committed, check Chase and Tabitha in the table.
Search again for your roster
Search Electric and Ground separately, then combine role, attack category, move kind, target, and advanced filters such as stat buffs or flinching. Compare supports by both physical and special bulk, then verify healing, mitigation, and unlock conditions.
Effect searches can include conditional grid and superawakening effects. A search match does not mean an uninvested pair can use the effect: check move levels and unlock conditions on the detail page. The main selection reasons above use base moves and passives.
Method: we used the app’s published data and search functions locally, then checked move categories, targets, base and EX roles, and effect conditions. This article provides no damage calculations, measured event scores, or clear guarantees.
