Electric / Ground Score Attack: Rival, Villain and Paralysis Options
We used the Sync Pair Search logic to find Rival / Villain theme candidates and paralysis inflictors for the Electric / Ground Score Attack’s extra conditions. The pool is limited to the 73 initially Electric- or Ground-type pairs among 674 pairs.
This article covers all 14 theme matches and eight selected paralysis options, including durable supports, area versus targeted infliction, and unlock conditions. No damage calculations are used.
Extra conditions: Rival / Villain × Electric / Ground
The condition is (Rival OR Villain) AND an initial Electric OR Ground type. A pair does not need both themes. There are 14 matches: 7 Electric and 7 Ground. Both N pairs have both themes and are counted once each.
Unless you are aiming for an opponent-strength increase of 2,000 or more, it may be better to ignore these extra conditions. Prioritize surviving each battle and handling its gimmick before dropping a durable support just to satisfy a condition.
Themes can differ between outfits of the same Trainer, so we checked each pair’s registered themes. “No paralysis-infliction match” means the current data for that playable pair contains no infliction effect matching the search.
| Sync pair / type | Theme | Paralysis and assignment notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rival | Discharge gives each opponent a 30% paralysis chance. Combines durability and buffs and is exempt from Maxie’s weakening because his base role is Support. | |
| Rival / Villain | Bolt Strike has a 20% paralysis chance against one opponent. A physical offense option; relying on it solely for paralysis is chance-based. | |
| Rival | Discharge gives each opponent a 30% paralysis chance. An option for combining special offense with the Rival theme. | |
| Rival | Its area buddy move inflicts paralysis and unlocks after Hau uses one move. His base role is Multi, so he is exempt from Maxie’s weakening even with EX Strike. | |
| Rival | Thunder Wave inflicts paralysis on one opponent. Combines the Rival theme with a targeted paralysis role. | |
| Rival | Base Thunder Shock has a 10% paralysis chance. The move-level-4 grid effect adds a separate paralysis-infliction option and requires investment. | |
| Rival | Thunder Punch has a 10% paralysis chance against one opponent. Fills the Rival slot, but consider another inflictor when paralysis is urgent. | |
| Rival / Villain | No paralysis-infliction match. A Field / EX Support pair with a special area buddy move whose roles also fit the Maxie restriction. | |
| Villain | No paralysis-infliction match. His base role is Field, so he is exempt from Maxie’s weakening even with EX Strike unlocked. | |
| Villain | No paralysis-infliction match. Consider assigning this physical Strike pair to Clay or another suitable battle. | |
| Villain | No paralysis-infliction match. Assign this Ground Strike option to a battle compatible with its special rule. | |
| Villain | No paralysis-infliction match. Team Defense and Sp. Def +4 plus Potion combine the theme requirement with durable support. | |
| Villain | No paralysis-infliction match. A durable Ground support with team healing when hit and buffs to both defenses. | |
| Villain | No paralysis-infliction match. Her base role is Tech; assign paralysis to another pair. |
All 7 Electric theme matches also match paralysis infliction. None of the 7 Ground theme matches do, so pairing them with a separate paralysis inflictor makes roles clearer. Blue (Champion), Maxie (Fall 2026), and Tabitha can combine a theme slot with durable support.
Paralysis options: distinguish area and single-target infliction
A broad Electric / Ground paralysis-infliction search matches 38 pairs, including conditional effects such as grids. Below are selected area inflictors and targeted single-opponent options. Infliction still depends on landing the move and on the opponent’s resistance or immunity.
| Candidate | Infliction range | Method / conditions |
|---|---|---|
| All opponents | The area buddy move inflicts paralysis. Unlocks after one personal move; starts with 1 MP. Also has Rival and is exempt from Maxie’s weakening because his base role is Multi. | |
| All opponents via passive | His paralysis-inflicting buddy moves expand to all opponents through a passive and require raised Sp. Atk. Does not satisfy Rival or Villain. | |
| All opponents via passive spread | Nuzzle inflicts paralysis, and her passive spreads the status to all opponents. Cover the theme requirement with another pair. | |
| All opponents | Its buddy move unlocks in a sandstorm and inflicts paralysis on all opponents. A Ground option that combines area paralysis with a support role. | |
| All opponents | The buddy move inflicts paralysis, requires raised Sp. Atk, and starts with 2 MP. Distinguish it from the regular move’s 20% chance. | |
| One opponent | Thunder Wave targets one opponent. An option for covering Rival and targeted paralysis with a single pair. | |
| One opponent | The buddy move unlocked by a circle inflicts paralysis on one opponent. Combines buffs and healing, but another pair must cover Rival or Villain. | |
| All opponents; chance-based | Discharge gives each target a 30% chance; it does not guarantee team-wide paralysis in one use. Combines Rival with durable support. |
Matching paralysis infliction is different from spreading it to everyone in a short sequence. Hau’s and Blue (Champion)’s Discharge are chance-based per target, while Hop’s Thunder Wave targets one opponent. Paralysis also does not remove the enemy’s maximum-countdown reduction.

Check gimmick counters and durable supports for each battle
Do not assign pairs solely to meet extra conditions. Also check special offense for Marnie, physical offense for Clay, and Maxie’s restriction on pairs whose base role is Strike. Pairs with Strike only as their EX role are not weakened. Blue (Champion) has Support and Arc Suit Hau has Multi as their base role, so both are exempt from the weakening against Maxie.

Method: type and paralysis use the app’s own search logic, while Rival / Villain are checked against each pair’s registered themes. We distinguish regular moves, buddy moves, passives, and grid conditions, without inferring enemy resistance or measured event scores.
